David Fitton is new British High Commissioner to Jamaica

The British High Commission in Kingston has announced the appointment of David Fitton as the new British High Commissioner to Jamaica.



Fitton succeeds Howard Drake, who has been transferred to another Diplomatic Service.



The High Commission says Fitton will take up his appointment this month.



Up to recently Fitton was the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Tokyo.



Fitton joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1980 and served in a number of roles in the UK and overseas.



He was posted in Japan, India and Turkey, and worked on African, Asian, EU and consular affairs in London.
