The Government says amendments to the Building Act for the adoption of the National Building Code will be brought to Parliament before the end of this financial year.
Local Government Minister Noel Arscott, told the House of Representative yesterday that final drafting instructions have been given to the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Council.
He said a consultation was held with stakeholders in March on a revised draft bill and final drafting instructions were also given in March.
The new Building Act will, among other things, repeal the Kingston and St Andrew Building Act and the Parish Councils Building Act and make fresh provisions for the regulation of the building industry.
