Attorney says Govt's move to gather public opinion on terms of reference is good
Edmond Campbell, Senior Staff Reporter
Attorney-at-Law Bert Samuels believes the government’s decision to invite public discussions on the draft terms of reference is a move in the right direction for the justice ministry.
Noting that the democratic process has been engaged, Samuels says he could not recall any previous commissions of enquiry which sought the views of the public.
Samuels is recommending that the enquiry also seek to determine if there was any evidence of terrorism on the part of law enforcement officers during the incursion and the number of weapons found in Tivoli Gardens.
