President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Captain Horace Burrell says the Reggae Boyz have shown understanding behind the sacking of their head coach Theodore Whitmore.

Whitmore lost his job hours after Jamaica’s 2-0 defeat to Honduras on Tuesday night in a crucial World Cup Qualifier in Tegucigalpa.

The defeat was the team’s fourth in succession and third in eight days.

Captain Burrell says the players accepted the decision of the JFF following a meeting before they departed Honduras.

The defeat makes the Reggae Boyz’ dream of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Finals in Brazil next year very difficult.

They stayed bottom of the CONCACAF’s World Cup Qualifier table with two points from six games.

The top three teams automatically qualify for the World Cup Finals in Brazil, while fourth place will play Oceania champions for another spot.
