The Board of the Lacovia High School in St Elizabeth is now investigating an incident in which a senior teacher was physically assaulted by a grade eight female student.

The teacher was reportedly slapped in the face and kicked several times after she chided the teenager who had been disrespectful to her.

Reports indicate that on Wednesday afternoon the teacher was decorating a section of a corridor for a function when she instructed a group of girls not to put their hands on the railings.

One of the girls is said to have responded in a disrespectful manner.

It is further reported that another teacher who witnessed what happened took the girl aside and spoke to her.

That teacher released the student who then pounced on the senior teacher who had chided her and slapped her in the face several times.

A male teacher made attempts to restrain the girl, to which she responded by kicking the senior teacher several times on both thighs.

The student was suspended from classes for ten days.

A report was also filed with the police.
