The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) says Olympian Veronica Campbell Brown has been provisionally suspended from competition.

In a statement a short while ago, the JAAA said Campbell-Brown has accepted the suspension.

The JAAA, in confirming that a case is now ongoing involving the athlete, also said Campbell-Brown has voluntarily withdrawn from competition.

The JAAA said Campbell-Brown has been provisionally suspended pending the outcome of a disciplinary panel that will be set up to hear her case.

On Friday The Gleaner reported that Campbell-Brown had tested positive for a banned substance.

It has been reported that the two-time Olympic 200-metre gold medallist tested positive for a diuretic.

Diuretics are considered masking agents for performance-enhancing drugs.

Campbell-Brown has been one of track and field’s biggest female global stars for over a decade.
