Melaine Walker doubtful for trials
Andre Lowe, Senior Staff Reporter
The Gleaner understands that Jamaican hurdler Melaine Walker is a major doubt for this week's Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association/Supreme Ventures Limited National Senior Championships at the National Stadium.
Walker reportedly suffered a calf injury several weeks ago and has not recovered well enough to compete at the championships.
An Olympic and World Championships gold medal winner over the 400m hurdles, Walker recently expressed her desire to compete in the 100m hurdles and was expecting to feature in that event, which starts on Sunday
Walker's agent and brother Christopher Walker, confirmed that the athlete had suffered and injury and is a doubt for the meet, but that he is awaiting further medical advice before he entirely rules out the possibility of her competing.
