Today is the deadline for members of the public to make submissions on the draft terms of reference for the Tivoli Enquiry into the May 2010 Operation by the security forces.

The Cabinet issued the June 21 deadline when it published a 14-point draft document on June 11.

Reactions to the proposed terms of reference have been mixed with civil groups and individuals commending the inclusion of some issues while questioning the necessity of others.

Justice Minister Mark Golding says submissions have been received though he would not say how many.

He says while there have not been any calls for an extension of the deadline, considerations could be given should a request be made.

The Justice Minister says the Cabinet approved proposed amendments on Monday for the Commission of Enquiry Act.

He says final drafting instructions are being prepared for the chief parliamentary counsel.

Golding has said, one of the changes include an increase in the fines for failure to comply with an order to appear before the commission in line with recommendations from the 2010 West Kingston Commission of Enquiry.
