Anchovy High board chairman wants clinical pyschologist in schools

Chairman of the School Board at Anchovy High Calvin Brown is calling for clinical psychologists to be placed in schools in an effort to curb delinquent behaviour in students.
His call follows Wednesday's incident outside the Montego Bay-based institution in which a schoolgirl stabbed and killed another female student identified as 13-year-old Jamellia Dawkins.
According to him, guidance counsellors are not able to deal the magnitude of problems being experienced by students.
He says he has had discussions with the Education Minister on the matter and has suggested that Anchovy High be used as a benchmark.
Brown says parents must play a greater role in the lives of their children in an effort to prevent incidents such as the one that occurred on Wednesday.
He notes that the school has had a gang problem but has taken efforts to minimise those activities.
Brown says the recording and posting of the girl's death on the internet reflects the kind of society that Jamaica has become.
The incident was captured on a cellphone and later shared on social media websites.
Popular website Youtube has since pulled the video.
The girl accused of killing Jamellia is expected to be questioned shortly.
