Investors showing interest in Jamaica - Brown

Published:Saturday | June 22, 2013 | 3:06 PM

State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Arnaldo Brown has revealed that seven investors have expressed interest in making equity investments in some 17 projects in Jamaica.

Brown did not identify the sectors being looked at, but says the investors have requested additional information from the project owners.

The disclosure comes as the Government seeks to highlight some of the benefits derived from the 5th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James last week.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Brown revealed that the conference facilitated some 240 business meetings among 14 investors on 30 local projects.

He says this is significant and adds that the country will soon see a number of investment initiatives as a result of linkages made at the three-day event.
