Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel hits the market today

Published:Monday | June 24, 2013 | 9:44 AM

The energy minister Phillip Paullwell will this morning launch the new Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel in Kingston.

The new fuel is expected to have a less damaging effect on the environment.

Paulwell says he is now considering whether to increase the level of ethanol used in the current fuel mix.

The current ethanol level in fuels sold on the local market has been at 10 per cent since it was introduced in 2007.

However, speaking last week, Paulwell said higher ethanol fuel blends are being introduced in more countries across the globe.

The energy minister says such a move would have a positive impact on the environment.

Two gas stations in the Corporate Area are set to introduce Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel.
