The police this morning found a severed head belonging to a man identified as Hopeton Cunningham.

They say they were called to the Sharpers Lane community about 1:30 a.m. when shots were fired at them.

The police say they fired back and a man dropped a knapsack containing the man’s head.

They say his torso was later found at Lane in Church Pen.

The police say a diary with valuable information such as his phone number was found on his person.

Detectives from the St Catherine Major Investigation Crime Task Force are probing the matter.

The killing of Cunningham brings to 18 the number of homicides in Old Harbour since the start of the year.
