Toll rates to increase on July 6

Motorists who use the Highway 2000 East-West thoroughfare will have to dig deeper into their pockets come July 6.



The Jamaican Infrastructure Operator Limited, the managers of Highway 2000, has announced an increase in toll rates.



The operators say it has become necessary to raise the toll rates due to the increase in recurring input costs.



The increased rates range from 11 per cent to 23 per cent.



See below for new rates:



Class 1:

Vineyards – from $270 to $310 (15% increase)

Spanish Town – from $90 to $110 (22% increase)

Portmore – from 130 to 150 (15% increase)

May Pen – 60 to 70 (17% increase)



Class 2:

Vineyards – from $370 to $430 (16% increase)

Spanish Town – from $130 to $160 (23% increase)

Portmore – from $200 to $230 (15% increase)

May Pen – $90 to $110 (22% increase)



Class 3:

Vineyards – from $700 to $790 (13% increase)

Spanish Town – from $250 to $300 (20% increase)

Portmore – from $390 to $450 (15% increase)

May Pen – $180 to $200 (11% increase)
