The Tourism Minister Dr Wykeham McNeill, has announced that the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) will undertake four major projects this year to the tune of approximately $1.2 billion.

McNeill says the projects are part of a thrust to upgrade and improve historical sites and major tourism products.

The projects include the upgrading of the Ocho Rios Cruise Ship Pier; the provision of lighting for Montego Bay’s ‘Elegant Corridor’; and the construction of bicycle tracks and pedestrian pathways along the Norman Manley Boulevard in Negril.

The tourism minister says the projects represent a quantum leap for the TEF.

McNeill says Memoranda of Agreements have been signed and a total of $550 million has been put in place to start these projects.

He says the funds have already been transferred to the implementing agencies.
