Taxi association to seek update on fare increase application

Published:Friday | July 5, 2013 | 8:42 AM

The National Council of Taxi Associations (NCOTA) is to write to the Transport Minister to seek an update on the application for a fare increase for transport operators.

The Transport Authority ended public consultations more than three weeks ago.

NCOTA President Dion Chance says transport operators are anxious for an announcement.

He says bus and taxi operators continue to be impacted by the harsh economic climate in the country and are in need of a reprieve.

The last fare adjustment was in 2008 when commuters were asked to pay between 25 and 30 per cent more to travel on buses and in taxis.
