The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) is spending $17 million to fence the Montego Bay Civic Centre in Sam Sharpe Square.

Mayor of Montego Bay Glendon Harris says this will allow for better control in and around the facility.

Harris also revealed that there are long-term plans to set up a museum and develop the area to provide a more relaxing atmosphere for residents and tourists.

He says galvanised metal will be used to fence the courtyard and the car park as part of an overall long-term plan to improve and maintain the facility.

The work is expected to last eight weeks.
