Court today for cops linked to killing of Vanessa Kirkland
The three police constables charged with the murder of schoolgirl Vanessa Kirkland are scheduled to return to court today for a plea and case management hearing.
Constables Anakay Bailey, Dervin Hayles and Andrew Wayne Smith are to appear in the Home Circuit Court.
The three are out on bail.
In her ruling that the officers be charged, Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn had recommended that the matter be committed directly to the Home Circuit Court by way of a voluntary bill of indictment.
Kirkland was among several occupants of a car which was chased by the police following an alleged robbery in Portmore, St Catherine, that ended with a reported shoot-out on Norman Lane in Kingston 13.
