Olympian Traves Smikle failed to add to Jamaica’s medal tally after a fourth place in the men’s discus throw on today’s final day of track and field at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan Russia.

Smikle, who competed at the London 2012 Olympic, had a best throw of 60.91 metres.

He achieved that mark in the fifth round.

Brazilian Ronald Juliao won the gold medal with a throw of 63.54 metres.

Giovanni Faloci of Italy took the silver with a 62.23-metre effort, while the bronze went to Russian Gleb Sidorchenko who did 62.16.

Smikle was the last competitor for Jamaica at the Championship as the country was only represented in track and field.

Jamaica ended with four medals – comprising three bronze and a silver.
