Police seize guns, ganja in St Thomas

Members of the Mobile Reserve and the St Thomas Police yesterday seized two homemade firearms and a quantity of marijuana in three separate operations.



The police say a team conducted an operation in Hampstead district in Yallahs during which a bag containing a homemade firearm was found.



Two men, whose names are being withheld, were taken into custody in connection with the seizure.



The police say members of the Mobile Reserve and the Yallahs Police seized a homemade shotgun in an operation in another area of the community.



They say no one was arrested in connection with this find.



Meanwhile, 20 pounds of ganja were seized in another section of the parish.



The police say a man was arrested and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act and bribery.



He reportedly offered a sum of money to a police personnel to have the charges dropped.
