Following revelation that five Jamaicans and American Tyson Gay tested positive for banned substances, chairman of Barbados Anti-Doping Council, Dr Adrian Lorde has announced that Barbadian athletes are not using any performance-enhancing drugs.

Dr Lorde’s disclosure comes after the results from all drug tests done on Barbadian track-and-field athletes at the National Athletics Championships came back negative.

He says the results were received from the World Anti-Doping Agency’s accredited laboratory.

Former 100-metre world-record holder Asafa Powell and his MVP teammate Sherone Simpson confirmed on Sunday that they were among the Jamaicans who tested positive.

Powell and Simpson tested positive for the stimulant oxilofrine.
