The reigning LASCO top cop Sergeant Oneil Patterson has been granted $300,000 bail in relation to the rape charge against him.

Bail was offered in the Home Circuit Court yesterday.

Patterson was previously on bail but was remanded after the Director of Public Prosecutions entered a voluntary bill on indictment transferring the case from the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court to the circuit court.

The bail application was made by Attorneys-at-Law Peter Champagnie and Tamika Harris.

Patterson was ordered to return to court on July 25.

The Crown is alleging that on May 23, the policeman sexually assaulted a 29-year-old medical doctor in his motor car on the compound of the Elletson Road Police Station in Kingston.

It is further alleged that the accused and the complainant were on a date when the incident took place.

Patterson has denied the allegations.
