SQUASH: Ja looking to continue good form at Junior Championships

Jamaica’s squash players will be looking to continue their good form when the 2013 Caribbean Area Squash Association's Junior Championships in Trinidad and Tobago continues today.



All Jamaica Under-13 champion Mia Mahfood and Under 15 contender Jonathan Walker have progressed to finals following actions yesterday.



Mahfood beat Makeeda Harding of Guyana 11-4, 11-7, 11-9 in the quarter-finals and then dismissed Charlotte Toogood of Bermuda 11-6, 11-6, 11-2 in the semi-finals to earn a shot at the regional title.



Walker defeated Shermane Griffiths of Barbados 12-14, 12-10, 11-7, 11-2 in their quarter-final tie and then beat Dylan Pratt of Bermuda 11-6, 11-3, 11-7 in the semi-finals.



Alyssa Mullings sailed into the semi-finals following an easy win in the quarter-finals. The defending Under 15 Caribbean Champion beat Olivia Lindsay of Bermuda 11-1, 11-4,11-3.



The win brings the 14-year-old Mullings one step closer to completing a hat trick, as she seeks to retain her regional crown having already taken the All Jamaica Junior and Senior titles this year.



Team captain, Ashante Smith, was also in top form by easily dismissing Zaki Willliams of Barbados 11-3, 11-2, 11-2.



The victory earned Smith a spot in the semi-finals.



Another convincing win came from All Jamaica Under 19 Champion, Julian Richardson who beat Beckett Simpson of Bermuda 11-6, 11-4, 11-8.



Also safely into the semi-finals is All Jamaica Under 15 Champion, Tahjai Lumley who beat Nicholas Caddle of Trinidad & Tobago 11-4, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7.
