Discharged sugar factory guards to meet with ministry

Trade unions representing security guards recently laid off from the Monymusk, Bernard Lodge and Frome sugar factories are to meet at the Ministry of Labour this morning to discuss their termination.

The labour ministry intervened in the matter following days of protests by the security guards.

The 132 security guards were sent home on Sunday by the management of the sugar factories.

The company has reportedly hired private security guards as replacements.

The former workers have accused the management of acting unjustly.
