New technology to help Caribbean countries catch identity frauds

Published:Tuesday | July 30, 2013 | 5:30 PM

The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), has launched a new tool to help Caribbean countries exchange information on fraudulent identity and travel documents.

INTERPOL says the technology makes it easy for officials in any of its 190 member-countries to check if a travel document is fake by comparing it to worldwide images of counterfeit documents.

INTERPOL says it will play a central role in the swift provision of information to law enforcement agencies, particularly in the fields of border management and the fight against identity fraud, human trafficking, terrorism, and financial crime.
