Youth Council says social partnership agreement neglects youth

An unhappy National Youth Council of Jamaica (NYCJ) says the just-signed social partnership agreement neither includes nor puts focus on the nation’s youth.

NYCJ chairman Ryan Small says the six objectives of the agreement fail to identify or speak to the potential of youth as a catalyst for social change.

He also says it is concerned that the opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) did not sign to the agreement.

Small says the move is a step in the wrong direction as no effort should be spared in ensuring that all partners can be truly involved.
