CRICKET: Marlon Samuels' Antigua Hawksbills beaten by Barbados Tridents

Marlon Samuels’ Antigua Hawksbills suffered a 12-run defeat to Kieron Pollard’s Barbados Tridents in their opening match of the Caribbean Premier League last night at Kensington Oval.

It was the second straight victory for Barbados Tridents.

Electing to bat, Barbados Tridents posted 146 for eight off their allotted 20 overs with Shoaib Malik leading the way with 33.

Jonathan Carter supported with 31, with Umar Akmal hitting 30 and captain Pollard 18.

Samuels and Sheldon Cotterrell ended with two wickets each.

Ashley Nurse then bagged four for 14 to restrict Antigua Hawksbills to 134 for eight, 12 short of the victory target.

West Indies opener Johnson Charles scored with 22, while Samuels and Ben Rohrer scored 23 each.
