The Government of The Bahamas has confirmed that a United States embassy official was robbed there last Saturday.

This is the second robbery of a US Embassy official in The Bahamas in the past two months.

In a statement released yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the latest incident was brought to its attention on Thursday.

The Bahamian Foreign Ministry says the incident is being investigated by the police and adds that is has expressed regret to US authorities.

In June, a US Embassy staff was robbed while on her way to church.

Earlier this year, the embassy urged American nationals travelling to The Bahamas to be wary of the crime situation in the country after a US citizen was shot and killed during an armed robbery.
