Women, children rushed to hospital after car crashes into bus stop, shop

Five people, including two children, were rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St James after they were hit by a motorcar along the Montpellier main road this morning.




Four are said to be in serious condition. The Gleaner /Power 106 News Centre understands that the accident took place about 7:30 this morning when the driver of a Toyota Corolla motor car hit a woman. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a bus stop occupied by a woman and three children, before ending up in a shop.



Two of the children, a six and seven-year-old, are said to be seriously injured, while a baby, believed to be about three months old, has also been taken to hospital.



The driver of the motor vehicle has been taken into custody by the police.



Road fatalities have increased by about 20 percent since the start of the year when compared to same period in 2012.
