Westmoreland apartment damaged by fire

A fire damaged a section of an apartment in Barry district, Grange Hill in Westmoreland yesterday.



It is believed to be the work of an arsonist.



The police say that about midday, the caretaker of the apartment was visiting the premises when she observed fire coming from a section of the building.



The Police and the fire department were alerted and one unit from the Savanna-la-Mar Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze.



Loss is estimated at $1 million.



It is not yet known whether or not the building was insured.
