Published:Tuesday | August 6, 2013 | 6:12 PM

The police today seized more than 500 pounds of compressed ganja on Wickham Avenue, Kingston 8.

The Constabulary Communication Network says about 11:15 a.m., police personnel were on patrol when they observed a man acting in a suspicious manner.

The police say he was accosted, and further checks led to a house in the area.

It was searched and the illegal drug found.

The ganja is reported to have an estimated street value of $3 million.

The police say their operation took them to Sayers Avenue, Kingston 10, where another house was searched and several cartons of cigarettes were found.

Investigators are awaiting confirmation from their partners in the Customs Department, but it is suspected that the cigarettes are uncustomed.

Three men were taken into custody, however, their identities are being withheld at this time.
