Cassia Park by-election: JLP says, party in good shape to bring out voters

Published:Thursday | August 8, 2013 | 8:50 AM

The Jamaica Labour Party says it is ready to overcome the PNP and reclaim the Division.

The party lost political representation for the Division for the first time in the 2012 Local Government polls.

JLP General Secretary, Dr Horace Chang says the organisation is in good shape to bring out the votes needed to elect Beverley Prince.

Chang says a win is crucial as it would increase the number of JLP representatives in the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation.

Prince held the Cassia Park division for three consecutive terms before switching to the Hagley Park division during last year’s local government elections, where she lost to the PNP's Nenna Wilson by 342 votes.

The PNP is in control of the KSAC with 26 divisions to the JLP’s 14.
