The race for the Cassia Park Division of East Central St Andrew is shaping up into a frenetic electoral clash.

Over the past week, potential voters have been mobilised by the top brass of the two major political parties.

Today, they are expected to venture to polling booths to elect a new Councillor, following the death of Cynthia Burrell.

The leadership of the People’s National Party (PNP) says a win in the Cassia Park by-election today would confirm that voters believe the party is the better choice to improve their quality of lives.

Deputy PNP General Secretary, Julian Robinson, says the party is confident that its candidate, Sheryn Bromfield will be elected to continue the work of her mother, whose death forced the by-election.

He says the party has ensured that the proper organisational structures were put in place to bring out the votes.
