Olympian Alia Atkinson of Jamaica won her second gold medal at the two-day FINA World Cup Swim Meet in Eindhoven, Holland today by taking the women’s 50-metre Breaststroke in a national record.

Atkinson won in 29.42 seconds.

The overseas-based swimmer lowered the national record two times in the day as earlier she won her heat in 29.44.

Moniek Nijhuis of The Netherlands was second in the final in 29.95, while Jennie Johansson of Sweden clocked 30.07 seconds for third place.

Atkinson took the 100-metre breaststoke on yesterday’s opening day in one minute 03.90 seconds to beat a strong field.

Atkinson’s two gold medals came following her disappointing performances at the recent FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain.
