MOSCOW, Russia (CMC):

Top Trinidad and Tobago female sprinter Kelly-Ann Baptiste has reportedly tested positive for a banned substance and voluntarily withdrawn from the IAAF World Championships in Athletics now underway in the Russian capital.

The National Association of Athletics Administrations of Trinidad and Tobago (NAAA) is expected to make an announcement on the issue but the Trinidad Express newspaper reported that Baptiste left Moscow on Saturday and will effectively take no further part in the championships.

“She has voluntarily withdrawn from the competition and is heading back to her base,” Trinidad and Tobago team manager Dexter Voisin told the Express.

However, he refused comment on Baptiste's positive test.

“I can’t disclose anything pertaining to that.”
