MOSCOW, Russia:

Jamaican Kaliese Spencer has been disqualified after crossing the line first in her women's 400m hurdles heat at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics inside the Luzhniki Stadium.

Spencer was judged to have gone around and not over at least one of the hurdles, with Rule 168.7(a) which speaks to "Trailed left/right leg below the horizontal plane of the top of hurdle... at the instant of clearance," noted.

Jamaica's Team Leader Trevor 'TC' Campbell was on his way to the competition's Technical Information Centre when contacted. From there they will review the information and make a decision on whether or not to appeal the ruling.
