Scores of people today attended the swearing in of Berverly Prince, the new councillor for the Cassia Park Division.

Prince was sworn in at the monthly meeting of the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC).

Senior members of the Jamaica Labour Party including party leader Andrew Holness, and veterans Desmond Mckenzie and Pearnel Charles were among those in attendance.

Prince told The Gleaner that said she has already started her work in the division.

She said she would be addressing the lack of proper streetlights and roads in the communities as a matter of priority.

Meanwhile, Holness said today marks an important signal of support for the Cassia Park Division councillor who he described as a hard worker and a woman of the people.

Holness also said her victory should be seen as vote of confidence in the JLP.

The Cassia Park by-election was held last Thursday with Prince receiving 1,589 votes to the 1,179 votes received by the People’s National Party’s Sheryn Bromfield.
