Day two of education ministry's job fair, teachers more pleased
It appears the teachers present at the second day of the education ministry’s job fair are more pleased with the day’s proceedings than yesterday.
When our news team visited the ministry’s Heroes Circle offices, where the fair is being held, the teachers were more organised and commended the ministry on the day’s smooth progression.
They say they did not encounter the chaos that was reported on day one of the event.
The ministry says 300 teachers showed up this morning, compared to the more than 800 that attended yesterday in the heavy rains.
Education Minister Ronald Thwaites said today’s numbers are more manageable and that more potential employers also showed up.
The ministry also indicated that several employers were on hand today with more than 230 job openings on offer.
The ministry’s job fair is expected to help the more than 2,000 unemployed teachers find alternative jobs outside the public school system.
