MOSCOW, Russia:

Jamaica's 4x400m relay team of Rusheen McDonald, Javere Bell, Edino Steele and Javon Francis are through to tomorrow's final at 12:30pm (Jamaica time), after winning their heat at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics.

The quartet posted a time of 3:00.41 to win ahead of Great Britain, 3:00.50 and Venezuela 3:02.04.

Bell told The Gleaner that the team is buoyed by the performance in the final and are looking make a serious push for a medal tomorrow.

"I think it was a good win for us. We know that we are a young team but we are all running in the 45 seconds region and we know we can do well here," said Bell.

Jamaica are expected to make at least one change going into the final with Leford Green, who was a member of the team that won bronze at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, likely to be inserted.
