One man is now in custody after a quantity of ganja was found in the car that he was driving this morning.

Approximately 200 pounds of the illegal substance was seized.

The Manchester police say that about 10 a.m. police personnel were on patrol on the Winston Jones highway when they signalled the driver of a white Toyota Caldina motorcar to stop.

He disobeyed and sped away, eventually crashing into a signpost.

He was apprehended and a search of the motor vehicle revealed the marijuana wrapped in plastic bags.

The name of the driver of the motor vehicle is being with held until charges are preferred.
