Sections of St Mary on water restriction

Published:Thursday | August 15, 2013 | 6:04 PM

Sections of St Mary are to be placed on water restrictions as the National Water Commission (NWC) continues to see drought conditions.

The NWC says the Agualta Vale Water Supply System is being impacted by low inflows which is affecting the volume of water being supplied to communities in the parish.

The communities of Islington, Heywood Hall, Baccaswood, Zion Hill and surrounding environs will receive piped water on Sundays to Tuesdays between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

And the areas of Highgate and its surrounding areas including Richmond, Belfield, and Harmony Hall will get water between the hours of 6 p.m. in the evenings and 6 p.m. in the mornings between Wednesdays and Sundays.

Meanwhile, the NWC says Annotto Bay and surrounding communities will be on the same schedule.

It says trucked water will also be available to the affected areas but notes that priority will be given to hospitals, health centres, schools, public institutions and communities severely impacted by the drought.

The NWC is encouraging residents of St Mary to store water and use it conservatively.
