ATHLETICS: Kaliese Spencer returns to 400m hurdles action today
The 2012 Diamond League winner Kaliese Spencer will contest her first 400-metre hurdles today following her shock disqualification from the World Championships in Moscow.
The 26-year-old Spencer is down to compete at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting in Sweden.
Spencer will take the track at 1:03 p.m. Jamaica time.
She will face off with Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic, who won the gold medal in the event at the World Championships in a world leading 52.83.
Nine other Jamaicans will compete today.
Kimberly Williams will be the first Jamaican in action as she is down to compete in the women’s triple jump at 10:10 a.m. Jamaica time.
Sprinters Kerron Stewart and Schillonie Calvert, who helped to guide Jamaica to the 4x100-metre gold medal at the World Championships in Moscow are down to contest the women’s 100 metres.
Also down to compete are Novlene Williams-Mills, Rosemarie Whyte and Christine Day in women’s 400 metres.
The other Jamaicans are Damar Forbes in the men’s long jump, Kimberly Williams in the women’s triple jump and Mario Forsythe and Rasheed Dwyer in the men’s 200 metres.
