UPDATE: Three KFC workers released from hospital after fiery explosion

Restaurants of Jamaica, the operators of KFC, says three of the seven employees injured in a fire at its Old Harbour location in St. Catherine yesterday have been released from hospital.

They were discharged last night.

KFC’s marketing director, Tina Matalon says the four who remain in hospital are under the standard 48-hour observation period for burn injuries at the Andrew’s Memorial Hospital in St Andrew.

She says they are expected to be released tomorrow.

Matalon says one of the employees has burns to his forearm and may require further observation.

Meanwhile, the KFC official says the cause for the yesterday’s fire has not yet been established and a thorough investigation is ongoing.

The fire broke out about 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon, in a section of the kitchen at the Old Harbour restaurant.
