A female pillion rider on a Yamaha motorcycle met a tragic end on Spanish Town Road in Kingston, this afternoon.

The woman reportedly fell off the motorcycle in the vicinity of the St Andrew Technical High School and was run over by a fire truck, crushing her.

The incident has drawn the attention of numerous passersby and residents and had caused a restriction in traffic flow.

The woman's body was removed by undertakers a short while ago.

It is reported that the motorcyle was heading towards downtown Kingston when the driver of a Nissan motorcar attempted to overtake it.

However, the car reportedly made contact with the bike causing the driver to lose control.

The pillion was then thrown off the bike into the path of the fire truck which was travelling in the opposite direction.

It is not clear if the fire truck was responding to an emergency at the time of the crash.
