JLP activates election commission

The Jamaica Labour Party has activated an election commission.



Leader of the party Andrew Holness last night instructed the Standing Committee of the party to appoint a commission to conduct the party’s upcoming internal elections.



The commission will be charged with responsibility for elections that may arise at the annual Conference for the positions of Leader and Deputy Leaders of the Party, as well as those conducted at the subsequent Central Executive meeting.



The commission has been mandated by the Standing Committee to manage all aspects of elections especially a code of conduct for consultations and campaigning.



The commission will be chaired by George Soutar and will comprise of Attorney-at-Law Tom Tavares-Finson and member of parliament Derrick Smith.
