CRICKET: Santokie hoping for Windies recall

Published:Thursday | August 29, 2013 | 9:34 AM

Jamaican left-arm pacer Krishmar Santokie says he hopes his performances for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the just-concluded Limacol Caribbean Premier League  will help him regain his place on the West Indies senior team.

Santokie was named player of the tournament after taking 16 wickets to end as the leading wicket taker in the inaugural event.

However, his franchise suffered a seven wicket loss to Chris Gayle’s Jamaica Tallawahs in the finals at Queen’s Park Oval, in Trinidad Saturday.

The Jamaican pacer finished the tournament with an impressive economy rate of 6.22, a wicket strike rate of 13.1, and an average of 13.6.

Santokie also claimed the leading wicket taker title in 2012 and finished third in this year’s staging of the now-defunct Caribbean Twenty20.

He has represented the West Indies in Twenty20 internationals, the last of which was two years ago.
