The police are keeping a close watch on the Salt Springs and Flankers communities in St James after one of the parish's most wanted was allegedly shot and killed by his cronies.

It is reported that Clayton 'Chippy' Burey went to Salt Springs yesterday and gunmen opened fire shooting him all over his body.

Burey was wanted by the police in relation to a number of shootings and other crimes in Flankers and surrounding communities.

Investigators say they have launched a manhunt for his attackers.

Meanwhile, an alleged gunman remains in hospital under police guard following a reported shootout in Farm Heights.

It is reported that he was among a group of men who carried out an attack in the community yesterday.

The police say the gunmen opened fire on a group of persons in the community and then drove off.

It is reported that while making their escape the gunmen came upon a police team and opened fire.

The police say the fire was returned and two men were shot.

One of the men died and the other was admitted to hospital.
