Several persons were today arrested and money and documents seized during a major operation in three upscale Montego Bay communities.

The operation was carried out by personnel from the Major Organised Crime Anti-Corruption Task Force (MOCA) and the Financial Investigation Division.

MOCA’s information officer, Inspector Dahlia Garricka said she could not provide details on those detained at this time saying they will have to be questioned in the presence of their lawyers.

But she says based on the evidence gathered so far it is likely that the persons will be charged.

In the operation, which primarily targeted people involved in financial crimes, several persons from Bogue Village, who were caught with items used for the illicit Lottery Scam, were taken into custody.

During the operation, which started at daybreak, the MOCA team visited and raided homes on Hatfield Way in Ironshore; Porto Bello Drive and Bogue Village.

At Ironshore, where a three-storey house was searched, a businessman was taken out in handcuffs as family members looked on.

Documents and laptop computers were among the items taken from his house.

Another man was arrested at the Porto Bello location, where another three story house and several cars were searched.

He was subsequently taken to his car rental business place at Bogue Village, which was searched and more documents seized.

Also in Bogue Village, another home was searched and several men, believed to be players in the lottery scam taken into custody.
