More than 400 new and retreaded tyres are to be provided to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) by the Jamaica Ultimate Tyre Company (JUTC II), ahead of the start of the new school year on Monday.

The Jamaica Ultimate Tyre Company (JUTC II) yesterday, says it is working overtime to ensure that the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will be able to fulfill its commitment to put additional buses on the Kingston Metropolitan Area Transport (KMTR) routes.

“So, we have some new tyres here and we have retreaded (tyres)... My objective is that come Monday morning, hopefully, tyres should not be an issue,” said General Manager of the JUTC II, Kenry Jackson.

JUTC Managing Director, Colin Campbell, recently announced the increase in the number of buses plying the Kingston Metropolitan Area Transport (KMTR)routes from 244 to 350, effective September 1. This will be facilitated through the new units, recently acquired by the state-run entity.
