Amid possible challenge for the post of leader of the Jamaica Labour Party come November, incumbent Andrew Holness, has declared that he is the best person to lead the party at this time.

His deputy leader, Audley Shaw, has signalled that he is considering mounting a challenge.

At a party meeting on the weekend, Holness again indicated that he welcomed a challenge but told party supporters that he is looking forward to the next general election.

Holness argued that for some selfish reasons, some people want to prevent the changes he is leading.

Since the last major party meeting, Holness has been suggesting that members of his party have been attempting to derail changes in the party.

In a Facebook post on August 14, Holness declared that he is a believer in the democratic process but called for a rejection of those who want to create disunity to suit their own self-interest.
