Traffic flow good on first day of new school year

Published:Monday | September 2, 2013 | 1:01 PM

The head of the Police Traffic Division, Senior Superintendent Radcliffe Lewis, says motorists were on their best behavior amid increased traffic for the first day of the new school year.

Yesterday, SSP Lewis had warned that the traffic police would be out in full force this morning.

He also said they would be targeting illegal taxis across the island.

SSP Lewis says motorists heeded the warnings this morning and abided by the rules of the road.

The Senior Superintendent says only a limited number of policemen are currently on the roads monitoring traffic, but the full complement will be back out at 3 p.m. to monitor the afternoon traffic.
